Reading Actively: Setting a Purpose

 

This lesson will help your students read more efficiently by showing them how to establish a purpose for reading and use it to determine how to read a text. It includes brief instruction on reading purpose, a model, practice determining how to read a text for a specific purpose and using the identified reading strategy to locate information in a text, and a multiple-choice assessment of students’ understanding of the strategy and their ability to apply it.
