Connect Different Presentations of Text will help your students master making connections between the text of a story or drama and a visual or oral presentation of the text. The unit includes academic vocabulary that is introduced through the initial instruction and then reinforced in individual lessons throughout the remainder of the week, a step-by-step guided close reading, and scaffolded practice. A brief, summative assessment at the end of the unit shows which students have mastery and which require further instruction. The unit can be easily opened as a PDF or HTML lesson for online or offline use.

Each of the 19 units in the Reading Dailies program has 3, 4, or 5 individual lessons that are designed to be completed in a single week. Each unit starts by introducing the main strategy and the key skills embedded within it. Each lesson within a unit is designed to take about one day and requires students to read and reread a passage and write about it. By breaking a larger standard down into smaller skills, students can master them one at a time to build understanding. A Checkpoint Assessment assesses students’ understanding of the main strategy at the end of each week, giving teachers the summative data needed to assess whether students have mastered the skills.
