Welcome to the Common Core Reading Literature course from Green Light Professional Development!

The course begins by identifying the shifts in Common Core ELA instruction that make CCSS different from pervious standards. Looking at at some of the standards in depth will help you understand what’s at the heart of these shifts and why they are important. That information is then translated into real teaching practices and strategies to meet performance goals. Finally, the course ends with a hands-on workshop that will allow you to create or modify an existing lesson plan to build on what you’ve learned about Common Core reading instruction.

Reading Literature skills are assessed in various college and career readiness tests. For example, some states use the PARCC (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers) test. This video offers a quick introduction.
